Class of 2027 Senior Photography Guide | Tinley Park & Chicago High School Senior Photographer

Class of 2027 Senior Pictures | Chicago & Tinley Park Senior Photographer

Get Ready for Your Senior Year!

If you're a Class of 2027 high school senior (or the parent of one), you're probably wondering when to book senior pictures, where to take them, and how to make the experience feel uniquely you. As a Chicago and Tinley Park senior photographer with over 15 years of experience, I've helped hundreds of seniors create timeless portraits that celebrate one of life's biggest milestones. This guide walks you through everything you need to know before booking your senior session.

My senior photo sessions are about so much more than taking beautiful pictures—they're a full experience from beginning to end. As a Chicago senior photographer serving Tinley Park and the surrounding suburbs, I love helping high school seniors celebrate this season with a personalized senior photography experience.

It seems like just yesterday your child was walking into high school as a nervous freshman. Back then, senior year felt so far away. Then somehow, in the blink of an eye, it's here.

Now you're celebrating the final year of high school—a season filled with excitement, anticipation, and big decisions. College visits, future plans, last first days, homecoming, prom, graduation... these moments pass quickly, and before you know it, this chapter has become a memory.

That's why senior portraits are so much more than a tradition. They're a celebration of who your senior is right now and everything that lies ahead.

Choosing the right SENIOR photographer

One of the most important decisions you'll make is choosing the right photographer.

My advice is simple: choose someone whose work immediately draws you in.

Pay attention to the lighting, composition, colors, and editing style. Every photographer has a unique artistic vision, and finding one that matches your style is key to loving your images for years to come.

Look beyond just one or two beautiful photos. Browse full galleries and ask yourself:

  • Can they photograph in a variety of locations?

  • Does every senior still look like themselves?

  • Is there consistency throughout their work?

  • Can they create a gallery that feels personal rather than posed?

The best senior portraits don't look like everyone else's—they reflect you.

CREATing your senior session vision with you

With more than 15 years of photographing seniors throughout Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, including but not limited to Tinley Park, Frankfort, Lockport, Mokena, Lemont, New Lenox, Monee, Hinsdale, Downers Grove, Naperville, Winfield, Wheaton, and Warrenville, I've discovered many locations that photograph beautifully in every season.

Whether you're envisioning the Chicago skyline, an urban downtown, a quiet forest preserve, golden prairie grasses, colorful flower fields, or a location that's meaningful to your story, I'll help you choose the perfect setting to match your personality and style.

No two seniors are alike, and I believe no two sessions should be either.

Together we'll plan your session—from locations and outfits to timing and overall style—so that when your day arrives, you can simply relax, have fun, and enjoy the experience.

Because years from now, these photographs won't just remind you what your senior looked like. They'll remind you exactly who they were during one of life's most unforgettable seasons.

The Best Senior Picture Locations Near Chicago

From Dowtown chicago to the chicago suburbs

Senior Session Downtown Chicago Wabash Bridge

Downtown Chicago

From beaches and skyline views and the iconic Chicago bridges to riverwalk with city scraper views, along with historic architecture, and colorful murals, every corner offers a new backdrop. The variety means your gallery can have dozens of unique looks without traveling far.

Your High School

From the front of your school to the field incorporating your high school into the senior session brings it full circle from the start to the end.

Flower Fields in Bloom

Midwest flower season is a short window, typically towards the later summer weeks so if you want that summer bloom make sure you book that season because us midwest photographers work around the growing season.

Perfect for: Flowing dresses, Soft pastel colors, Warm summer evenings & creating that summer feel

Two Flower locations I freequent are The Wildflower Farm in Monee & Cantigny Park in Winfield.

Fall Season

Each year knowing when the fall leaves will be vibrant is a guess but I can tell you mid-October to early November is usually when we can capture that fall feel.

Best fall locations range from forest preserves throughout the Chicago area but two of my favorite are St. James Forest Preserve and Danada House in the western Chicago suburbs by Wheaton.

Urban Locations in your Local Towns

Many of your local downtowns have great spots you may drive by often that are great picture spots. Some of my local downtown locations include: Tinley Park, Frankfort, New Lenox Commons, Lockport, Naperville and Lemont.

Brick walls, industrial buildings, textured alleys, and modern architecture create a look that works incredibly well for both girls and guys.

Nature Fields with Tall Grasses

Tall grasses gently blowing in the breeze create a soft, dreamy look that never goes out of style. These locations are especially beautiful in late summer and early fall. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Indoor Locations

Finding an indoor location with large windows and big ceilings makes a great spot for an indoor session.

This is one of my locations that has worked well for senior boys & perfect for a simple session.

Hockey Players | Ice

When you play a sport and it is where you spend your high school sports season. Getting on ice images in your uniform in your number will hit even more special when the netxt chapter starts and you look back.
